[FMA SPOILERS] [AATHER] a rambly thing
OKAY DOING A RAMBLY THING ON GREED RE: SEX AND ROMANTIC FEELS (etc. because I can never just stick to the topic at hand) BECAUSE JIBS WANTED ME TO
uhh where to start. right okay.
Greed is not shy about physical affection and attraction, and he is attracted to a lot of things. Sex is not a big deal to him but neither is it meaningless, he doesn't sleep with just anyone though it may appear that he would. He doesn't care what you are- girl, guy, chimera, an alien, whatever. He is, fundamentally, capable of finding any physical form attractive. What determines that attraction for him tends to depend on the personality of the person in question. Someone who is confident in themselves and in their body, he is drawn to. At the same time, he would be more than willing to sleep with someone not confident or otherwise uncomfortable in their own skin in order to convince them to be more confident in their body. I suppose this is where I should mention that in my headcanon, Greed has at one point or another had casual sex with each of his closest chimera buddies. I imagine that when he first rescued them, they weren't nearly as comfortable with what they'd become. Greed took it upon himself to get them to not only accept themselves as they were, but to be proud of it- not just through sex, but it could have been a part of it.
On the other hand, for what Greed doesn't find attractive, Envy would be the best example. He taunts Envy for his true form, but not because it is so grotesque. It's because Envy is ashamed of it, of himself- he hides his true form and lashes out at those who mock him. Envy is a lot of things that Greed dislikes; he rarely makes choices for himself as he just follows Father's orders, and he has a sickening murderlust that Greed finds distasteful. It's the same reason he calls Pride a true monster- to take pleasure in the harm and killing of others, purely for the sake of enjoying their pain- for Greed, that's what makes a true monster. I have more feels and thoughts on his relationship with Envy and views on 'monsters' etc, but I'm already drifting outside of the topic at hand, so I shall refrain.
In Aather, Greed doesn't remember his old self yet or his pimping-ness, but he still has that confidence and he pretty much ran with it for the kissing game, and so basically ended up discovering how easy it is for him to do that sort of thing.
Okay so FEELS. Feels are a little more complicated (...not that the first part wasn't already kind of complicated. sob). For all that Greed is a very self-assured and confident guy, he does not actually have a great understanding of his own feelings. Something I've talked about in previous Greed rambles is Greed's insistence on filling an emptiness he's felt inside since his birth, and how that's what he bases his "greed" around. We're shown at the end of canon that what he really needed to fill that emptiness was not possessions, but friends. So here's where it gets tricky. Greed had friends, his chimera buddies from the Devil's Nest. But he never used the word friend, would deny it if it were brought up. He valued them but in his own lack of emotional understanding he inadvertently kept them at a distance. He never understood or acknowledged those feelings of friendship because he was too busy focusing on his self-imposed greedy image and what he thought he really wanted (worldly possessions, power, etc).
Wow that was pretty off track, BUT what I'm trying to set up is, Greed as he is in Aather is still pretty much at that point, with an important difference. Greed in Aather doesn't have that built-up self-image of avarice. He still wants things, and he still has that emptiness that he's slowly beginning to re-discover through his experiences in Aather. He can call someone a friend without too much trouble. But his thought process is still more along the lines of they're-just-a-means-to-an-end. He has pretty easily befriended Ling, and essentially, he has feelings of some sort for Ling. But he translates that into 'He interests me/could be useful.' As he gains more memories of his greedy self, he may only reinforce that thinking- or break away from it, if he gets more memories to do with friendship and continues to grow closer to his team (he's starting to feel friendlier toward Saya and Mitsuki, at the least).
So now that I've laid out that Greed basically sucks at feels, at this point it's way unlikely that he'd recognize any feelings of love, much less admit that he's in love. As it is, Greed loves himself quite a lot, which is possibly one reason he is drawn to those with similar traits (or that plus the same body, cough cough Ling). I'm sitting here trying to think of what to write here and the more I think about it, the more I think it would just depend on the person(s) and the context to say how Greed would respond to falling in love. Honestly, he probably wouldn't treat them very differently from his friends.
running out of things to say and this got kind of long and semi-off-track anyway so OOPS. /stops there
